ALL OF US IN LIFE FACE CHALLENGES
AT TIMES. When you're in a time of challenge
might we suggest your turn your mind to Edmund for both a
bit of inspiration and possibly for him to put in a good word
for you to the "big boss" who cradles all of our
lives in his hands. Unfortunately only particular types of
miracles have a chance of getting Edmund over the line in
the race to sainthood but you can always pray for your own
personal "miracle" or just that insight and inspiration
from Edmund that might turn your challenge into triumph.
The Postulator for the Cause of Blessed Edmund, Br Donal
Blake, publishes regular updates on the Congregation website
at www.edmundclt.org.
His February column includes a story on the late Australian-born
Brother, Linus Kelly (1918-2002) who was Congregational Leader
at the time Edmund's Cause was first put forward.
Br Donal is also looking for a special intention, or a special
person, who might be made the focus of the International Novena
in Honour of Blessed Edmund this year. He reports "Last
years intention, the well-being of little Quincy, caught
the imagination of many people worldwide. He has improved
wondrously through the intercession of Blessed Edmund,
many claim."

India Brothers suggest Tsunami lessons in all schools
The Brothers leadership team in India have
issued a reflective statement on the tsunami that suggests
some of the lessons from the disaster should be included in
the curricula of Christian Brothers schools around the world.
THE
EDMUNDRICE.ORG WEBSITE contains a link to the
Tsunami CB India Update. It summarises the response
of the India Brothers, but hints that the international goodwill
will be wasted if it is not allowed to impact on the many
"millions of poor around the globe living in sub-human
conditions ... awaiting a disaster to happen."
The Brothers suggest that huge sections of the world's poor
are vulnerable to disaster, perhaps on the scale of the tsunami,
because of "how they live, where they live".
They challenge members of the international Edmund Rice community
to think about how they can be proactive.
"What are some of our learnings. for the future, from
the disaster ? How can we include it into the curriculum of
our Christian Brother Schools around the world?"
The document indicates that the Brothers are organising funds
for relief efforts, but for the moment the policy is to 'wait
and watch' until specific needs can be identified.

Truth
matters for all, but especially those in leadership positions!
Australians need to accept that truth in public life is complicated
and full of ambiguity if we are to improve our public conversations,
according to former Redgum lead singer John Schumann, who
spoke at the Jesuit Lenten Seminars that began a few weeks
ago.
